Words from the Captain

——-

Dear Agapi Boat Club member,

We are delighted to welcome you into our growing network of boat lovers searching for something different.

At Agapi, we are committed to delivering a premium experience, and we set our ambitions high:

  • 4.9/5 member satisfaction for the past eight years.
  • 97.6%+ Agapi Hand-over score (boat condition at check-in) achieved in 2024.
  • 75%+ member retention, even higher in our top-tier segments.
  • 99%+ boat availability, thanks to our smart booking algorithms and controlled member-to-boat ratio.

Such outstanding results are only possible through seamless communication between our members and the Agapi Team. As a Club, we thrive on a strong culture rooted in respect and responsibility—values that guide everything we do.

For us, culture takes precedence over process. We carefully select our team, partners, and, most importantly, members who share our vision and values.

While culture is key, excellence also relies on understanding the processes and policies we’ve developed since 2017. That’s why we take great pride in our Onboarding program—designed to ensure you feel fully prepared and confident on our boats. Complemented by our Agapi Academy, as we offer a learning experience tailored to your boating competence,to minimize potential issues and, most importantly, to maximize the joy of being on the water.

At Agapi, we are dedicated to transforming boating, making it more accessible, enjoyable, and fulfilling for more people.

Good luck with your Onboarding, and once again—welcome aboard! We are confident you’ll love the journey.

Best regards,
Peder, Captain of the Agapi Ship

The Agapi Way – Key documentation

——–

The Agapi Way is a contractually binding set of processes and policies that must be thoroughly understood and adhered to by both members and Agapi staff.

It is reviewed annually and ahead of each season, and all members and staff are expected to familiarize themselves with any updates.

The Local Appendix details the specific nautical regulations, legal requirements, and practical guidelines for each Club location. It also highlights any deviations from the overarching Agapi Way. Members must review the Local Appendix for their home Club and any additional locations they visit.

The Boat Presentation contains essential information about each specific boat. Members are expected to be familiar with the presentations for the boat models they use. These are easily accessible via the Agapi App.

The Membership Contract must be signed either physically or digitally, and all Onboarding protocols must be recorded in the member’s profile.

2. Following the Club principles

2.1 Communication

——-

Effective communication is essential, and we use several channels to ensure you receive important updates and stay connected with the Agapi community:

  • Mandatory Member Updates: Used only for critical information. These are sent via email and text message, so please ensure our emails are not caught in spam filters.
  • Agapi Global Newsletters: Keep up with the latest Agapi Boat Club news, updates, and developments.
  • Push Notifications via the App: Our primary communication channel. To stay up to date, please enable push notifications for the Agapi App in your mobile settings.
  • Direct Contact: If we need to reach you regarding a booking or any other matter, we’ll get in touch directly. If you need to contact us, you’ll find phone numbers and emails for your local office in the ‘Contact Us’ section of the App.
  • Event Invitations: Join us at boat shows, After-Work gatherings, and special events when launching new boat models, introducing partners, hosting training sessions, or simply networking. These events are always great fun—don’t miss them!
  • Agapi’s Annual Member Survey: Around October every year, we send out a survey to all members. Your feedback helps us refine our routines, improve processes, and proactively plan for the next boating season.

2.2 Activation and Onboarding

Onboarding is a mandatory process for all new members and must be completed before your first boat trip. This essential step ensures you are fully prepared and confident on the water. It includes:

  • Agapi Guidelines and Club rules: A comprehensive introduction to everything you need to know, including how to make bookings, manage your fuel bank, access harbor and boat information, understand region-specific regulations, and follow the Club’s do’s and don’ts.
  • Hands-On training with Agapi Staff: A practical onboard session with an Agapi team member to familiarize you with the boat, ensure you feel at ease, and get you fully set for your adventures at sea.

We look forward to welcoming you on board and helping you make the most of your Agapi experience!

——–

2.3 The Agapi Merit Score: Your path to safe and confident boating

At Agapi, safety is our top priority, closely followed by ensuring our fleet remains in pristine condition. Our boats are powerful, high-value vessels, which is why we’ve developed the Merit Score System—an in-house certification equivalent to a boating license. This system ensures that each member is matched with boats that align with their skills and experience.

How Your Merit Score is Determined

Your Merit Score is based on three key factors:

  • Your formal qualifications
  • Your navigational experience
  • Your practical boating abilities
Merit Score Classification and Boat Categories

Every boat in Agapi’s fleet falls into one of four boat categories: A, B, C, or D. Similarly, each member is assigned a Merit Score that determines which boats they can operate:

  • Merit Score A → Qualified to operate Category A boats. Higher categories require a skipper.
  • Merit Score B → Qualified to operate Category A & B boats. Higher categories require a skipper.
  • Merit Score C → Qualified to operate Category A, B & C boats. Higher categories require a skipper.
  • Merit Score D → Qualified to operate Category A, B, C & D boats.

In general, a Category A boat requires a Merit Score A, a Category B boat requires a Merit Score B, and so on. However, some models have additional complexity. For example, the Candela C-8 electric foiling boat falls under Category C and requires a special Onboarding session due to its unique handling characteristics.

Evaluation & Training

Our instructors and training partners will assess your skills and, if needed, recommend a training package to ensure you can operate the boat safely. Local variations may apply regarding specific requirements.

How to Improve Your Merit Score

The Merit Score is designed to reflect your boating skills and knowledge, helping us support your journey toward becoming a more capable and responsible boater.

Your initial score is assigned during your Onboarding, in collaboration with your Agapi mentor or instructor. However, this score is not fixed—you can improve it by:

  • Obtaining additional boating licenses
  • Gaining more sea time and experience
  • Taking training courses through Agapi
  • Successfully completing additional boating seasons

You can request a Merit Score reassessment at the start of each season, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Your current score can always be found under your profile in the Agapi App.

2.4 Respect and Responsibility: The Core of Agapi Hand-over

At Agapi, everything revolves around respect and responsibility—our core values. The Hand-over process is the single most important procedure to master, ensuring a seamless experience, premium service, and, most importantly, a big smile for every member.

In 2024, we achieved an impressive 97.53% Hand-over score, and for 2025, our goal is set at 98%. This level of excellence is only possible through a strong Club culture, upheld by both staff and members.

The guiding principle is simple:
“Leave the boat at Check-out in the condition in which you’d like to receive it at Check-in.”

How Hand-over is measured

Agapi’s Hand-over rating ensures boats are always ready for the next member. Our target is for every boat to be rated ‘Very Nice’ (5) or ‘Nice’ (4) at both Check-in and Check-out.

  • A perfect Hand-over means:
  • At least 60% fuel in the tank
  • Correctly moored
  • Everything back in its place (e.g., kill cord correctly positioned, life jackets neatly stored, pillows arranged)
Hand-over levels and definitions
  1. UnacceptableNot seaworthy: The boat must not leave the harbor.
  2. PoorBelow standard: The boat is not in good condition. Needs attention.
  3. AcceptableUsable, but needs improvement: Some items are out of place or not as they should be.
  4. NiceClean and tidy, minor imperfections: More than OK to use, but not flawless.
  5. Very NiceExcellent condition: The boat is clean, and all gear is exactly where it should be.
Your Responsibility as a Member: At Check-in
  • Rate the boat’s Hand-over condition – This means you are effectively rating the previous member’s care of the boat.
  • Review the “Frog List” – This is the damage and repair log.
  • Inspect the boat for damage – Pay special attention to:
    • Port hull
    • Starboard hull
    • Propeller
Confirm your inspection by ticking the verification box in the App.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ If you fail to report damage, you could be held responsible for an issue that wasn’t your fault. While rare, you must always check the boat before heading out.

Your Responsibility as a Member: At Check-out
  • Return the boat in the SAME or BETTER condition than at Check-in.
  • Verify your trip data – You are responsible for checking:
    • Engine hours
    • Fuel data
    • Reporting any discrepancies (our system cross-checks with live black box data).
Never hand over a boat rated at Level 3 or lower.

If the boat was already Level 3 at Check-in, you must notify the staff at Check-out. Alternatively, you can improve the condition—for which you will be compensated. Exception: Pre-arranged cleaning services confirmed by the Club

  • If you have booked a special cleaning service and got it confirmed, our staff will block the boat before the next member’s Check-in.
  • Availability varies by location—please confirm in advance.
A Team Effort for a Premium Experience

Agapi is built on teamwork, and together, we ensure that every boat is always in top condition for the next member. By following these best practices, we continue to set the standard for a smarter, better, and more sustainable boating experience.

Let’s keep the Agapi spirit alive—safe boating!

2.5 Frog list principles: Keeping our boats in top shape

At Agapi, we refer to all boat-related issues, damages, or cosmetic details as “Frogs.” The term was inspired by the classic Tivoli game where players must continuously knock down frogs that keep popping up—because in boating, frogs will always appear. It’s not a matter of if, but when!

To ensure our boats remain in top condition, we log and track every Frog, addressing them regularly as part of our maintenance routine.

Where do Frogs typically come from?
  • Boat quality issues – Some Frogs are due to manufacturing or wear and tear.
  • Member-related incidents – Sometimes, a member may unintentionally cause a Frog.
  • Uncontrollable factors – Frogs can also appear due to natural causes or external conditions beyond anyone’s control.

Regardless of the cause, Agapi takes full responsibility for fixing them. However, we rely on our members’ transparency to report any issues. Many members even play an active role in resolving Frogs, and we, of course, compensate them for their help. Thanks to this great cooperation, we’ve achieved exceptional results in fleet maintenance and member satisfaction.

How does the list work?

Since our boats undergo regular inspections and maintenance, they typically have very few active Frogs. However, because our fleet is shared among many members, it’s essential to check the Frog List before each departure. Each Frog is classified into different categories as follows:

  • ImportantCritical issues that require special attention before departure.
  • InformationMinor issues that won’t affect your trip but are good to be aware of.
  • CosmeticsPurely aesthetic imperfections that don’t impact functionality.
How to Report a Frog
  • You can add a Frog to the list at Check-in, Check-out, or during your trip if something happens.
  • Unsure if an issue qualifies as a Frog? Add it to the list anyway—we’ll take care of it.
Transparency Matters!

Failing to report a Frog violates Agapi’s policy, and since we monitor our boats daily, unreported issues will be noticed sooner or later. Honest and open communication is a key part of our Club culture.

By working together, we keep our fleet in excellent condition for everyone to enjoy.

2.6 Reporting Damages: Respect, Responsibility and Transparency

Boating naturally comes with wear and tear, including occasional damages, breakages, or faults—what we call “Frogs.” As a member, it is your responsibility to transparently report any Frog as soon as it happens.

We know our boats inside and out, so any damage will be discovered sooner or later. However, we prefer to hear it directly from you. Our Club culture is built on respect and responsibility, and we expect all members to honestly report any incidents.

Reported Damages

At the end of each booking, the Agapi team performs a service check on the boat. If you inform us of any damages during Check-out, we will:

  1. Contact you via email regarding the issue.
  2. Send a charge through the App for payment at the cost of repair—we do not profit from repairs.
Unreported Damages

If we discover a damage that was not reported at Check-out, we will:

  1. Send you a damage notification requesting any relevant information.
  2. Ask you to complete a Damage Report for further assessment.
  3. Determine the cause and cost of the damage.
  4. If applicable, process a charge for the repair, which will be sent through the App for payment by card.

Our priority is maintaining the fleet in top condition, not making a profit from repairs. We charge only the actual cost of repair to ensure our boats remain in their best possible state.

Avoid inheriting another Member’s damage
  • To protect yourself, take one minute at the start of your booking to:
  • Inspect the boat for any visible damage.
  • Report any issues in the Frog List before departure.
  • Tick the verification box at Check-in to confirm you’ve checked all key areas.
  • If you suspect serious damage, contact the Agapi team immediately.

The following table provides a guide to common damages and their related charges. Issues not listed will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

2.7 Incident handling – Agapi’s responsibility

All Club boats are fully insured, with coverage as outlined below.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ If an incident occurs, the Club will handle all insurance claims on your behalf. As part of this process, we will send you an Incident Report Form, which must be completed with all necessary details, including:

  1. Photos of the damage
  2. Description of the damage
  3. Incident details – What happened, including date, time, exact coordinates, and the involvement of any other parties
  4. Assistance details – Any additional support required to return the boat safely to the harbor
Excess Reduction Policy

All boats are insured by the Club. The member’s incident excess is 5,000 EUR per incident and applies in the following way:

  • If the repair cost exceeds 5,000 EUR, the member is charged a maximum of 5,000 EUR.
  • If the repair cost is below 5,000 EUR, the full repair amount is charged to the member.
Reduce Your Excess

The incident excess of 5,000 EUR can be reduced by subscribing to the Agapi Excess Reduction Offer for 500 EUR per year.

Local Variations

In some Agapi Boat Club locations, the excess criteria and reduction policies may vary. Please check with your local Club manager for specific details. However, in most Clubs, the following table applies.

Excess Reduction Levels
Excess Reduction Option Incident Excess amount Annual fee
Basic 5,000 EUR N/A
Standard 1,000 EUR 500 EUR
Important Insurance Condition

The excess reduction does not apply to incidents resulting from gross negligence (e.g. mis-fueling a boat, boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, etc.) or intentional misconduct. In such cases, the application of the normal excess fee.

2.8 Incident handling – Member’s responsibility

At Agapi, we require all members to honestly and transparently report any incident that results in damage to a boat or is classified as a near miss. This is crucial for ensuring the safety of all members and upholding the respect and responsibility that define our Club culture.

Incidents Happen – It’s how we handle them that matters

Despite our best efforts, incidents are a natural part of boating. However, what sets Agapi apart is how we proactively and responsibly address them.

  • Agapi takes full responsibility for repairs and maintenance, ensuring that any issues are promptly and efficiently resolved.
  • Your responsibility as a member is to report incidents immediately and accurately so we can act quickly and ensure safety for all.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ Transparency is Essential

  • Failing to report an incident is a serious breach of Agapi’s Code of Conduct and will result in a formal warning.
  • All boats are equipped with a black box, which records key data—including groundings. Attempting to conceal an incident is virtually impossible. Being transparent benefits everyone and ensures the safety of all members.
Emergency Procedure Guidelines
1. Life-Threatening
  • Call your region’s emergency response number (112, 911, or the local equivalent).
  • Use VHF Channel 16 (or the designated local emergency channel) to issue a MAYDAY distress call.
2. Non-Life-Threatening
  • Contact Agapi Global Support or your local sea rescue service.
  • If using VHF, issue a PAN PAN distress call on Channel 16 (or the local equivalent).

Examples: Engine failure, anchor dropped, boat secured, passengers safe.

Additional emergency protocols
  • Please refer to your Local Club’s page in our App
  • Agapi Global Support – Available 24/7
    +46 200 45 65 25 (International Support Line)
When calling, provide your name and Agapi Boat Club details.

2.9 Fuelling policy

Our fueling policy follows the same principles as owning your own boat, but with added convenience and services to make your boating experience even more enjoyable. Key principles of fueling:

Ensure a fuel level of 60% on the boat

To comply with the Agapi Hand-over standards, every boat must have at least 60% fuel at both Check-in and Check-out.

  • Member Responsibility: Ensuring the boat’s fuel level is at least 60% at Check-out.
  • Failure to comply will result in a formal notification. Repeated violations may lead to a warning (see Agapi’s Behavioural Standards).
  • Exception: If you have ordered the Fuelling Service and your request has been approved by local staff. This service is only available at selected full-service harbors.
  •
  • ‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️

  • Use 95/98 gasoline for outboard engines and diesel for heaters.
  • Do not mix fuels—this is an expensive mistake with serious consequences for boat availability.
  • Only fuel from gas stations is allowed. Fuel from gas cans is prohibited unless explicitly approved by Agapi staff.
  • Fuel types are clearly marked: GREEN for 95/98 Octane and BLACK for Diesel.
    •
Member’s Digital Fuel Bank (Min level: 0 litres)

Each member has a digital fuel bank, accessible in “My Profile” in the Agapi App. This log allows you to track fuel consumption and top-ups, ensuring full control over your usage. The guiding principle is that you pay for the fuel you use, and it is your responsibility to assure this log is correct, all transactions are logged in our App.

How to Add Fuel to Your Digital Bank
  • Standard procedure: By filling up the boat at the fuel station and report this through the App at Check-out. It is mandatory to upload a photo of the receipt.
  • By using the “Fill up fuel bank” option in your App profile.
Running Low on Fuel Balance

If you do not refuel or log your fuel usage, and your digital fuel balance drops below 0 litres, Agapi will automatically charge in 50-litre intervals to restore a positive balance.

Example:
If your balance reaches 125 litres, a charge equivalent to 3 × 50 litres will be applied to your registered credit card via the App.

Fuel Pricing
Additional Considerations
  • Fuel purchased through Agapi’s App includes a 10% markup over the prevailing local rate at the Club’s partner fuel stations.
  • Since fuel prices fluctuate, we encourage members to report any significant discrepancies between actual fuel prices and Agapi’s listed rate.
  • New Members: We recommend topping up your fuel balance at the start of Onboarding to avoid checking out with a negative balance after your first trip. This can be done easily in the App using the “Fill Up Fuel Bank” button.
  • Boating in Other Locations: When visiting an Agapi location outside your Home Club, you are required to refuel the boat as you use it.
  • If refuelling is not possible, a €25 administrative fee will be applied to your booking.
  • Please check with local staff for specific regional details.
  • Membership Renewal & Fuel Balance Adjustments: If you decide not to renew your membership, plan your final refuelling carefully. Contact your local office to ensure your fuel balance reaches zero before your membership expires. Reimbursement of Remaining Fuel Balance:
  • Any unused fuel balance can be reimbursed at a fixed rate of €1 per litre.
A minimum of 50 litres is required for reimbursement due to administrative processing.

2.10 Booking and cancellation policy

The Agapi booking system is designed to offer maximum flexibility, allowing members to tailor their time slots to suit their needs.

Unless local deviations, a standard booking day runs from 10:00 AM to 10:00 AM the following day. However, in some locations, boats may need to be returned earlier, typically before sunset. If you wish to start your booking before 10:00 AM, please contact your local office to check availability.

Maximizing boat availability for everyone – Including yourself!

Accurately booking your start and end times ensures better availability for all members. To help optimize the system:

  • If you arrive early and the boat is available, you may Check-in up to 1 hour before your scheduled start time.
  • If you’re on the water and wish to extend your trip, you can do so directly in the App, provided the boat isn’t already booked after your scheduled end time.
  • If you anticipate returning later than your booking time (due to weather or other conditions) and the boat is reserved for another member, you must contact the local office immediately so we can notify the next member.
  • If your plans change, update your booking as early as possible.

Our cancellation policy is designed to be flexible, but it also relies on mutual respect among members. Keeping your bookings accurate helps ensure that every member enjoys fair access to the fleet.

Using the Navionics App, you can easily access these routes through Agapi’s shared markers and plan your journey with confidence.

As part of your Onboarding, you’ll receive hands-on guidance on how to use these tools effectively. It’s an engaging and practical way to enhance your skills, boost your confidence, and make the most of your time at sea.

The Agapi Boat Club Cash-Points System is an internal currency that allows members to purchase or earn points, which can be exchanged for select services.

Local Rewards

Some Clubs offer additional benefits in the form of Cash-Points. Ask your local Club for more details. Example: In Sweden, members receive 2,000 Cash-Points for signing up for the Navionics App and connecting it to the Agapi Boat Club for route planning.

2.13 Agapi Friend Reward Program

——-

Refer a friend to Agapi Boat Club and enjoy the benefits together. Our Friend Reward Program is designed to reward both you and your friend, creating a win-win scenario where you both receive financial benefits while sharing the experience of being part of our vibrant boating community. Contact your local Club to get a better understanding of our Program and how to participate.

By bringing like-minded boaters into Agapi, we continue to strengthen our Club culture, ensuring that all members enjoy a premium boating experience.

Why Refer a Friend?

  • It enhances the Club experience for all members, providing greater flexibility and accessibility.

Once your friend joins the Club, both of you will receive a reward. If you are unsure about the specific benefits available in your region, please contact your local office for details.

2.14 Membership Renewal Procedure

——–

Renewing your Agapi Boat Club membership is a simple and seamless process. Follow these steps to ensure uninterrupted access to your boating experience:

 1. Notification of Renewal

Your local Club will notify you when it’s time to review and confirm the details for your next contract period. However, we encourage you to proactively check your renewal date, which is stated in your membership contract.

2. Review Your Membership Options

Before renewing, explore the latest membership plans and pricing on our website. You may also schedule a meeting with your local Club to discuss the best options based on:

  • Your boating preferences
  • An evaluation of your booking history
  • Available membership packages, such as local memberships, dual-home memberships, or PayGo packages
3. Confirm Your Renewal

Once you have selected your preferred membership plan, confirm it via email.

Take advantage of early renewal incentives, which may offer cost savings. For example, in Region Sweden, members who pay their renewal before the next boating season receive a 10 percent discount. Check with your local office for specific offers available in your region.

4. Receive Confirmation

Once your renewal is processed and the new membership period begins, verify that your Agapi App profile reflects your updated membership details.

5. Resume Booking

After your renewal is complete, you can immediately start booking boats via the Agapi App.

If you have any questions or need assistance during the renewal process, contact your local Club.

2.15 Agapi’s behavioural standards

At Agapi Boat Club, we take pride in fostering a community of responsible and respectful members. Our commitment to high standards ensures a premium experience for everyone, and this responsibility is shared by both Agapi staff and members.

While we do not issue fines for poor behavior, we expect all members to uphold the values of respect and responsibility. Lack of knowledge is never a problem—we provide support through:

  • Comprehensive video tutorials
  • Expert guidance from our staff and boat trainers

However, lack of respect is not tolerated.

Zero Tolerance for Boating Under the Influence

Agapi maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against:

  • Operating a boat under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substances
  • Violating captain responsibilities, which include ensuring the safety of passengers and upholding the reputation of the Club

This policy supersedes local laws and regulations.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ Handling issues that impact other members

While most members naturally align with our community values, certain actions require intervention to maintain the quality of our Club experience.

Reminders: Minor issues

For minor infractions that negatively impact the next member’s experience, Agapi issues an “Agapi Reminder.”

  • An Agapi Reminder serves as a gentle notice to pay closer attention to The Agapi Way.
  • If a member receives three reminders, they must book a mandatory 2-hour personal training session (€200 fee) before continuing to use Agapi Boat Club services.
Warnings: Serious Violations

A formal written warning will be issued for serious incidents, such as:

  • Wilfully damaging a boat
  • Offensive or inappropriate behavior
  • Any action that harms the reputation of Agapi Boat Club

A formal meeting will follow the warning. Any further violations will result in membership termination as per the Terms and Conditions.

By maintaining these standards, we ensure that Agapi Boat Club remains a safe, respectful, and premium boating experience for all members.

2.16 But things can happen: Agapi’s approach

At Agapi, we recognize that mistakes and unexpected situations can occur. Our philosophy is built on trust, teamwork, and continuous improvement, ensuring that when issues arise, we handle them fairly and effectively.

Our No-Blame Philosophy

We operate with a no-blame mindset, understanding that everyone can make a mistake. We trust that both our members and staff always strive for the best, and when something goes wrong, it is never intentional.

Our Three-Step Approach
  1. Finding a Solution First
    • The immediate priority is to resolve the issue and minimize the impact.
    • Some solutions may be beyond our direct control, but the better we work together, the greater the chance of a positive outcome.
  2. Understanding What Happened
    • Every situation is an opportunity to learn and improve.
    • If the issue is caused by Agapi’s staff or system, we take full responsibility and provide compensation.
    • The key is to analyze the incident thoroughly so we can prevent similar issues in the future.
  3. Taking Responsibility and Compensating Fairly
    • When an issue is Agapi-related, we stand by our members and take full responsibility.
    • Example: A member once checked in at a remote satellite harbor, only to find a dead battery due to an Agapi Hand-over score of 1 out of 5. With no immediate support available, we guided the member through the battery replacement process. The member checked out with a 5-star satisfaction rating, and we compensated them with 2,000 Cash-Points.

At Agapi, trust and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. By working together, we ensure that even when challenges arise, we turn them into valuable learning experiences that strengthen our Club.

2.17 One membership – One Club

One of the most valued aspects of Agapi Boat Club is the worldwide access it provides to premium boats in attractive waters. As a member, you can enjoy seamless access to all Club locations worldwide and boats within your membership level, all managed effortlessly through the Agapi App.

Booking terms and conditions for locations outside your home Club may vary depending on your membership type. These details are outlined in your membership contract, ensuring transparency and clarity when planning your boating experiences.

Wherever you go, you remain part of the same Agapi Boat Club, and you can expect the same high level of service, support, and warm welcome at every location.

Excellent Seamanship

At Agapi, we are committed to fostering a culture of excellent seamanship. We take pride in belonging to a Boat Club that stays one step ahead, ensuring that all members uphold the highest standards of respect, responsibility, and environmental awareness.

In any boating situation, members are expected to show courtesy and consideration for:

  • Other boaters navigating nearby
  • Swimmers enjoying the water
  • Sea birds and marine life
  • Mooring areas and boats docked at restaurants, harbors, or fuel stations

Always be mindful of your wake and speed, as excessive waves can disturb others and cause unnecessary impact.

Additionally, knowing your boat, your harbor, and the local waters or region where you are navigating is essential for safe and enjoyable boating.

By embracing these values, we ensure that Agapi remains a world-class community of responsible and appreciated boaters, where every member takes pride in the shared experience.

3. Knowing your boat and harbour

3.1 Documentation and information in the App

The Agapi App serves as your central hub for essential boating documentation, ensuring you have everything you need for a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.

Boat Presentation

Before using a specific boat model, you must thoroughly review its Boat Presentation in the App. This mandatory training includes:

  • An introduction to the boat
  • The five must-knows about the model
  • Fuel efficiency, driver recommendations, and the Agapi Merit Score
  • Plotter navigation and Check-in/Check-out procedures
  • Mooring, knots, and anchoring routines
  • Inventory details and where to locate essential items
Boat Specifications

Detailed specifications for each boat in the Agapi fleet are available in the App. Once you have confirmed your booking, you will have access to:

  • Boat features
  • Dimensions (length, beam, draft)
  • Passenger capacity
  • Engine details and performance
  • Top speed

One hour before your scheduled departure, additional booking-specific details will become available, including:

  • Boat key box code
  • Mooring number
Pre-Departure Safety Check

Before departure, always review the Frog List  to ensure you are aware of any pre-existing issues. (See chapter on Frog List principles.)

Harbour Information

Each Club harbour has a dedicated information page in the App, providing:

  • Harbour address
  • Boats available at this location
  • Contact details
  • Parking information
  • Nearest fuel station
  • Recommended routes and restaurants

Once you have booked a boat in a specific location, you will receive all necessary harbour gate codes for entry.

3.2 Standardized Boat Plotter Configuration

As our Club fleet continues to grow and evolve, we ensure that every boat you step onto operates under The Agapi Way—offering a consistent, user-friendly experience across our entire network.

Both Garmin and Simrad plotters in our fleet are fully standardized with a custom Agapi interface, designed to provide seamless access to the key information needed for Check-in, Check-out, and safe navigation.

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ The Agapi Standard Configuration is carefully designed for uniformity and ease of use. Members must not alter or modify the plotter settings.

Start-Up Screen

Each plotter will always display the Club logotype upon start-up, ensuring a familiar and intuitive entry point for all members.

Check-in and Check-out Information

Once the home screen loads, you will find all the necessary information for Check-in and Check-out, both in the Agapi App and directly on the plotter interface. This includes:

  • Fuel used
  • Engine hours
  • Fuel percentage
  • Additional relevant data

The plotter also provides shortcuts to essential functions, such as:

  • Navigation charts
  • Engine monitoring
  • Combo-displays for key operational insights
Simrad Plotters

For boats equipped with Simrad plotters, the interface remains consistent with the Agapi Standard Configuration.

Navigation Chart Settings

Each navigation chart is pre-configured with Agapi’s standard settings to ensure clear and accurate readings:

  • Depth shading: Water less than 3 meters is highlighted in blue
  • Heading up display for intuitive orientation
  • Heading line: Set to 1-minute projection
  • Distance rings for spatial awareness
  • Sidebar settings standardized for quick access to critical data (refer to member documentation for visuals)

3.3 Speed policy

‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️ The maximum speed limit for all Agapi Boat Club members is 40 knots.

Why Speed Limits Matter

There are three key reasons why speed regulation is essential:

  1. Respect for Others
    • Above all, respect and courtesy are fundamental to being an Agapi member.
    • Use common sense and be mindful of other boaters, swimmers, and marine life.
  2. Legal Compliance
    • Always observe and adhere to local speed limits, as they vary by region.
    • Failure to comply may result in legal penalties and impact the safety of others.
  3. Safety & Boat Longevity
    • Many open waters do not have official speed limits, making it easy to go too fast.
    • Excessive speed increases accident risks and puts unnecessary stress on engines and boats, leading to higher operational costs for all members.

For these reasons, it is mandatory for all members to follow Agapi’s maximum speed limit of 40 knots.

Speed Monitoring & Compliance
  • Our boats are equipped with a black box system, continuously monitoring speed.
  • Failure to respect the 40-knot limit will be recorded as negligence and will result in an Agapi reminder, in accordance with club rules and procedures.
  • It is important to understand that these speeds are based on calm weather conditions. In rough weather, speeds must be adjusted to the wave height, as excessive force places significant stress on the boats.
Optimizing Fuel Efficiency

Agapi recommends that members become familiar with their boat’s cruising speed for optimal fuel consumption. This is typically between 20 and 26 knots, ensuring a balance of efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.

For more information, refer to the Boat Presentation in the Agapi App.

3.4 Agapi Black Box System: Enhancing safety and data insights

As part of our commitment to continuous safety improvements and advanced data collection, all Agapi boats are equipped with a Black Box System (IoT). This technology enables real-time data tracking, supporting both member safety and service enhancements through ongoing data analysis.

How Agapi Uses Black Box Data

Enhancing Member Safety

  • Real-time location tracking allows Agapi to assist the Coast Guard in emergencies, ensuring members receive help as quickly as possible.
  • This system provides peace of mind, knowing that support is available whenever needed.

Operational Improvements and Service Optimization

  • Anonymous data collection helps Agapi analyze usage patterns, optimize fleet maintenance, and enhance the overall boating experience.

Ensuring Compliance with Club Rules

  • The system can verify if a member has violated Agapi Boat Club rules or regulations.
  • Individual data is only reviewed if there is reason to believe inappropriate behavior has occurred.
What Data is Collected?
  • Geo-tracking: Exact positioning, speed, and engine RPM
  • Fuel usage: Consumption, fuel levels, amount filled, and fuel used per trip
  • Grounding detection
  • Battery voltage monitoring
Automated Safety & Compliance Alerts

The system triggers automatic alerts in the following situations:

  • Excessive engine RPM or speed
  • Exceeding permitted geo-fences
  • Leaving a harbour geo-fence without completing Check-in
  • Navigating outside the designated boating area or the area covered by insurance
Safety first

By integrating this smart technology, Agapi ensures that safety remains a top priority while also using data-driven insights to refine and enhance the boating experience for all members.

3.5 Winter Boating Guide – Scandinavia and Icy Waters

Winter boating requires extra precautions as the days are colder and darker. As long as the water remains unfrozen, Agapi keeps boats available, all equipped for winter navigation. Key Considerations:

  1. Icy conditions – Pontoons, marinas, and boats may have ice. Allow extra time for defrosting before departure.
  2. Early darkness – Always turn on navigation lights.
  3. Traffic rules still apply – Fewer boats don’t mean fewer rules.
  4. Weather can change quickly – Check and recheck forecasts.
  5. Manoeuvering requires extra care – Speed, mooring, and anchoring must be well planned.
  6. Cold water is dangerous – Always wear proper gear.

Navigation Tools

  • Radar: for low visibility and night navigation, detecting other boats and obstacles. However, unless commercially licensed, it should be used as a support tool only. Found on Anytec A27 models via the Simrad chart plotter. Boats with dual screens can display radar separately. Otherwise, use a split screen.
  • AIS (Automatic Identification System): AIS displays commercial marine traffic and some recreational vessels. While useful, it relies on the internet and can be delayed, so it should not replace primary navigation tools.

Lighting System

  • Navigation lights – Always on at night; check them before departure.
  • Spotlights – Useful for mooring and narrow passages; turn off when not needed.
  • Cabin lights – Can reduce night vision. Ambient lights are preferable for night boating.

Heater System

All winter boats in Stockholm are equipped with diesel heaters to defog windshields and warm cabins.

  • Ensure fuel (diesel) is in the heater tank (see Boat Model Presentation).
  • Green light = heater on, white light = system shutting down.
  • Avoid repeated on/off cycles to prevent reset mode lockout.
  • Adjust air venting properly (Agapi 950 has a vent switch, Anytec has manual vents).
  • If the heater turns off after long use, restart it.

Additional Winter Considerations

  • Engines remain in the water – This protects against freezing; always lift and check propellers before departure.
  • Freshwater systems are turned off – Taps and showers won’t have running water to prevent freezing. (Toilets remain operational as they use seawater.)
  • Weather is unpredictable – Check forecasts multiple times before heading out.

By following these guidelines, you’ll have a safe and memorable winter boating experience!

3.6 Best Seamanship Practices

Agapi Boat Club is committed to maintaining the highest standards of seamanship. Every member is expected to uphold safe, responsible, and respectful boating practices. By following these best practices, members contribute to a safer, more enjoyable, and more sustainable boating experience for our Club and the Boating community at large.

Boat Handling

All Agapi members must demonstrate competence in boat handling for each model they intend to operate. Agapi provides training and onboarding, and additional Personal Training (PT) hours can be purchased if needed.

One of the most critical aspects of boat handling occurs in marinas, safe havens, and anchorages. Members must always:

  • Adhere to local and international boating regulations, including the COLREGs (Collision Regulations).
  • Maintain a maximum speed of 5 knots with no wake in harbours and marinas.
  • Avoid prolonged full-throttle operation, as this can damage the engines over time.
Mooring Procedures

Mooring techniques vary by region, and members must follow the specific guidelines for each location. Examples include:

  • Mallorca: Bow-in mooring with the stern attached to underwater mooring lines.
  • United Kingdom: Alongside mooring (port or starboard), with spring lines securing the boat.
  • Sweden: Bow-in mooring using a Y-boom system.

For location-specific mooring instructions, refer to the specific local information in the Agapi App.

Navigation and Instruments

Agapi has extensively tested different plotters, configurations, and navigation apps to determine the most effective systems. We use exclusively Simrad and Garmin plotters, all configured with the Agapi Standard Setup.

In addition to the plotter onboard, a secondary navigation device is recommended. Agapi uses Navionics for route planning and navigation.

Safety Onboard

The Captain is responsible for the safety of all passengers. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, members should:

  • Ensure children wear life vests at all times.
  • Advise guests to remain seated or safely positioned while the boat is in motion.
  • Be familiar with the safety equipment and procedures provided on each boat.

Agapi ensures that all vessels are equipped with the necessary safety equipment, in compliance with local regulations.

4 Important Definitions

——-

Onboarding

The Onboarding is mandatory and one of the core principles of our Club where you learn all about “The Agapi Way”, our routines and values and our staff will support with any question you might have. Before going out boating for the first time, we will meet with you for a brief practical training onboard, based on your previous nautical experience. We offer extra sessions if needed.

Boats

All boats are divided into four categories A, B, C and D. Once you selected your boat category, you will also have access to the boats in the smaller ones. If you choose category C, for example, you will also have access to the boats in category A and B. Skipper service is available, and in some cases may be required for our larger boat models or if a member lacks sufficient boating experience.

Boat availability

We ensure over 99% availability, based on past years’ statistics, thanks to our smart booking algorithms, and a controlled member-to-boat ratio. Some planning is needed, but the benefits are clear: always clean, fuelled, and ready-to-go boats at multiple locations. Members quickly adapt and can buy extra boating days via our app if needed.

Booking of boat trips
  • Spontaneous booking – Unlimited memberships include unlimited number of Spontaneous bookings. Bookings made within 24 hours of departure.
  • Planned day – Bookings made in advanced to secure a specific date, boat model or harbour. This type of booking can be re-used once the trip is completed or canceled and thus your Planned day becomes available again.
  • Extra day – Can be used to book longer periods, such as an entire week or to book several specific dates. This type of booking cannot be re-used, it is considered consumed once the trip is completed. The price for an Extra day depends on the boat model, season and location.
Global boating access

Access to boating from all our harbours globally. The fee per boat trip will vary based on the boat model, location and season.

Unlimited memberships

Ideal for boaters who want to enjoy the unique advantages that Agapi offers, including unlimited boating days, unlimited access to the most attractive harbours worldwide as well as unlimited access to a fleet of premium boats with the latest technology.

We have attractive memberships for boaters with specific needs such as Dual-homes, Only-summer. Please contact us for pricing and to discuss your ideal boating life.

Charter and rental services

Unlike traditional charter or rentals, Agapi’s approach is built on our Club culture, strict quality standards, and proven routines. It also aligns with our commitment to sustainability to optimize fleet utilization. Our service offers an excellent introduction to the benefits of our Membership offering for more frequent boaters.

Extra Captain in your membership

You can add an extra family captain to your membership, allowing them to book and take a boat out independently. To qualify, the individual must be of legal age, registered at the same address, and have completed our Onboarding. The Extra Captain includes one (1) Planned Day and global access.

Insurance and excess reduction

All boats are insured by Agapi with a standard insurance excess per incident. Members can subscribe to our excess reduction option. Note that the reduction doesn’t apply to incidents considered gross negligence, e.g. mis-fuelling a boat, boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, etc. Incidents from gross negligence result in the application of the normal excess fee. Please contact our local office for more information and refer to contract for more details.

Fuelling

Fuelling service is included with all memberships, and Agapi applies a small service fee for fuel purchased through our App. For this reason, most members prefer to refuel themselves whenever possible, as it’s more cost-effective. Self-fueling also supports smoother operations, especially during the high season when boats often have multiple bookings each day. As a Club, we can all contribute to maintaining a minimum of 60% fuel in each boat, benefiting everyone. Ultimately, Agapi is responsible for ensuring that each boat is refueled to at least 60% before each Check-in.

Cleaning

Deep cleaning is included with all memberships, and most boats are cleaned daily by our team. However, members are expected to return the boat in a nice condition and to complete basic cleaning at Check-out, always consider that a peer member could have booked the boat after you. Basic cleaning includes picking up any garbage, wiping away stains, returning cushions and equipment to their original positions, and rinsing the boat with fresh water. For specific guidelines on boat covers, pets, and footwear onboard, please contact our local office.

Water sports equipment

In some local Clubs we offer a varied range of water sports equipment, please consult with our local office. This service must be booked in advanced and is subject to availability.

Agapi Academy

Through Agapi Academy, you can book extra training on our boats with an experienced instructor. If you want to get a boating license or a coastguard certificate, we can arrange it through our partner network.

Engine hours

Agapi Boat Club offers unlimited boating with the first 50 engine hours included —more than enough for nearly all members (fewer than 1% exceed this limit). For exceptionally high usage, a small fee applies per additional 10-hour interval to help cover maintenance costs. If a member’s boating needs change and they use the boat less than expected, we proactively explore more convenient membership options to ensure the best fit.

Smart Boat Ownership

Please contact our local office if you are interested in investing in one of our Club boats or if you would like to include your own boat in our fleet.
